CHATTOGRAM, Dec 29, 2024 (BSS) – Leaders of different political parties, religious organizations and government officials have urged all quarters to work together to maintain inter-communal faiths aiming at building harmonious Bangladesh.
Chattogram City Corporation (CCC) Mayor Dr. Shahadat Hossain was the chief guest at the function titled as “Sampriti Somabesh”, organized by ‘Sacheton Nagorik Samaj,’ a citizen forum, held at the PTI auditorium at City’s Ice Factory Road.
Dr. Shahadat Hossain urged all to uphold communal harmony to keep law and order situation stable.
Requesting Chattogram’s city dwellers for keeping communal harmony for the greater interest of law and order stable, the CCC mayor urged all to show respect to all religions.
“We will live together keeping harmony in mind as we have sacrificed lives during Liberation War in 1971, toppled autocratic and fascist governments respectively in 1990 and July-August uprising in 2024,” he added.
City Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Shahjahan Chowdhury, Deputy Commissioner Farida Khanom, Superintendent of Police Raihan Uddin Khan addressed the meeting as special guests while Pro-Vice-Chancellor of Chattogram University (CU) Prof Md Kamal Uddin presided over it.
Deputy Commissioner Farida Khanam laid emphasis on maintaining communal harmony among Chattogram’s people.
City Unit Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Shahajahan Chowdhury said Bangladesh is a country of communal harmony.
Central joint secretary of Hefazat-e-Islam Bangladesh Moulana Nasir uddin Monir, CEO of ILMA Jesmin Ara sultana Paru, rajeeb Dhar Tamal, P K Barua, Prof Upananda mahathero, Chattogram coordinator of anti-discrimination student movement Russel Ahmed, assistant coordinator Khan Talat mahmud rafi, among others, adressed the meeting.
