HABIGANJ, Dec 31, 2024 (BSS) - Four people were killed and three others
injured in a pipeline explosion at an under-construction factory of Akij
Group in Bahubal upazila of the district this morning.

Among the deceased, two were identified as Mijan Gazi, 35, and Mahafuj, 30,
residents of Chandpur district and workers of the factory, said Zahidul
Islam, officer-in-charge (OC) of Bahubal Police Station.

The explosion occurred at a gas substation pipeline around 9 am at a project
site of Akij Venture Limited, a factory under construction in Dubau area of
Putijuri union under the upazila, leaving two workers dead on the spot and
injuring five others.

The critically injured were rushed to the MAG Osmani Medical College in
Sylhet but two succumbed to their injuries on way to the hospital, the OC
added.
