RANGPUR, Jan 2, 2025 (BSS) – The present interim government is working to establish a non-discriminatory welfare state where justice and social security will be ensured and political and economic rights of all citizens will be protected.
 
The observation came today at an open discussion jointly organized by the district administration and Department of Social Services (DSS) in observance of the National Social Services Day-2025 at the Shilpokola Academy auditorium in the city.
 
The day was celebrated through various colorful programmes, including bringing out a walkathon, open discussion on the welfare state, tributes to martyrs, distribution of souvenirs among families of the seven martyrs of Rangpur city in the July Revolution, and cultural function.
 
Additional Divisional Commissioner (General) of Rangpur division Md Asaduzzaman was present as the main discussant at the event.
 
Social Service Officers Md Arifur Rahman and Nur E Jannat moderated the function.
 
The main discussant said that the July Revolution has created an opportunity to build a non-discriminatory new Bangladesh where human and economic rights, justice and social security will be ensured and protected.
 
“With the united efforts of everyone, it is possible to form a truly non-discriminatory welfare state based on justice, equality and human values,” he said.
 
He said the students will play an effective role in building a non-discriminatory welfare state of the future and urged them to develop themselves as worthy citizens through hard work and perseverance.
 
Earlier, a walkathon was brought out from the Rangpur Zilla School Ground to the Shilpokola Academy auditorium.
 
Rangpur Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Rabiul Faisal, Rangpur Range DIG of Bangladesh Police Aminul Islam, Rangpur Metropolitan Police Commissioner Md Majid Ali, Superintendent of Police Md Abu Saim, Rangpur Divisional Social Services Office Director Most Jilufa Sultana, Rangpur District Social Services Office Deputy Director Md Abdul Matin, Samsiara Zaman Koli, mother of journalist Tahir Zaman Priyo, martyred in the July Revolution, Conveners of the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement Md Imran Ahmed and Imtiaz Ahmed Imti, July's daughter Most Sabina Yasmin, among others, participated in the open discussion.
