KHULNA, Jan 6, 2025 (BSS)- Bangladesh Navy here today held a seminar to mark
its annual sea rehearsal aimed at creating awareness among the public in
general to protect the sea and its resources.
Held at BNS Titumir, the seminar was addressed by Rear Admiral Golam Sadeq of
Bangladesh Navy as chief guest stressing the need for an integrated working
plan for development of the blue economy.
General Manager of Khulna Shipyard Captain Shafiqul Islam and Commander
Rashedul Karim also spoke.
Various issues, including capacity development of Mongla Port Authority,
removing the problems related to navigability in the internal rivers and
sustainable ship building process were discussed in the meeting.
The speakers also talked about developing eco-friendly sea industries,
conservation of sea biodiversity and tactics of protecting the internal water
bodies from pollution.
They also discussed and devices of ensuring alternative employment for the
coastal people during the ban of harvesting fishes.
Rear Admiral Golam Sadeq directed the BN personnel to put in their best to
protect the maritime boundary of the country and safeguard the valuable
marine resources scattered on our vast sea area.

Terming Bangladesh Navy a modern force globally, he said, adding that
submarine, frigate, modern warship, helicopter, marine petrol aircraft and
modern military equipment have been added in the naval fleet.
