RANGPUR, Jan 12, 2025 (BSS) - The weather mostly remained unchanged as the
sun appeared in a clear sky and the night and day temperatures marked a very
little variation in the northern region today.
The sun shined at most places all day, reducing the extent of cold bites and
misery to common people who conducted their daily normal works in better
weather today like the past two consecutive days.
The maximum temperatures ranged between 24.5 degrees and 27 degrees Celsius
while the minimum temperatures ranged between 10.2 degrees and 15.1 degrees
Celsius during the last 24 hours ending at 6 pm today.
As a result, people experienced comparatively better weather today in the
sub-Himalayan northern region where normal life and daily activities remained
mostly unchanged all day.
However, elderly citizens, women and babies are still remaining as the worst
sufferers, especially in rural and riverine char areas, due to the cold wave.
Met Office sources said, the minimum temperatures recorded today were 15.1
degrees Celsius against yesterday's 13.2 degrees at Rangpur, 13.2 degrees
against yesterday's 11 degrees at Dinajpur, 14 degrees against yesterday's 12
degrees at Saidpur, 10.5 degrees against yesterday's 8.2 degrees at Tentulia,
10.2 degrees against yesterdays' 10 degrees at Rajarhat and 12.5 degrees
against yesterday's 11.4 degrees Celsius at Dimla points.
The maximum temperatures recorded today were 24.5 degrees Celsius against
yesterday's 26.3 degrees at Rangpur, 25.2 degrees against yesterday's 26.7
degrees at Dinajpur, 26.6 degrees against yesterday's 27 degrees at Saidpur,
26.7 degrees against yesterday's 26.5 degrees at Tentulia, 25.5 degrees
against yesterday's 26 degrees Celsius at Rajarhat and 27 degrees against
yesterday's 26.2 degrees Celsius at Dimla points in the region.
Officials at hospitals, upazila health complexes and community clinics said a
good number of patients with cough, fever, asthma and other cold-related
diseases continued rushing there keeping the doctors to remain busy.
"Physicians are providing health services to cold-related patients in
hospitals and other health service facilities in Rangpur like other places
across the district," Rangpur Civil Surgeon Dr Mostafa Zaman Chowdhury told
BSS.
Meanwhile, the district and upazila administrations, NGOs, voluntary and
socio-cultural organisations have further intensified distribution of warm
clothes among cold-stricken people to mitigate their sufferings in all
northern districts.
