RANGPUR, Jan 14, 2025 (BSS) – Weather remained mostly unchanged as the sun was seen shining in the clear sky while night and day temperatures marked a very little fall in the northern region today.
The extent of cold bites also remained unchanged and common people conducted their daily works in better weather today like in the past few consecutive days.
The maximum temperatures ranged between 25.3 degrees and 26.5 degrees Celsius while the minimum temperatures ranged between 9.6 degrees and 13.6 degrees Celsius in the region during the last 24 hours ending at 6 pm today.
Common people experienced reasonably better weather today in the sub-Himalayan northern region.
However, elderly citizens, women and babies are still the worst sufferers, especially in rural and riverine char areas, due to the cold wave.
The Met Office recorded the country’s lowest temperature of 9.6 degrees Celsius at Tetulia in Panchagarh district today in the northern region.
The other minimum temperatures recorded today were 13.6 degrees Celsius at Rangpur, 11.8 degrees at Dinajpur, 12.2 degrees at Saidpur, 11.6 degrees at Rajarhat and 11.8 degrees Celsius at Dimla points.
The maximum temperatures recorded today were 26.5 degrees Celsius at Rangpur, 25.3 degrees at Dinajpur, 26.5 degrees at Saidpur, 25.5 degrees at Tentulia and 26 degrees Celsius each at Rajarhat and Dimla points in the region.
“The temperatures may continue to mark fall in the coming few days, when a mild cold wave may prevail in the next few days in the region,” Head of the Rangpur Meteorological Office Md Mostafizar Rahman told BSS tonight.
Officials at hospitals, upazila health complexes and community clinics said a good number of patients with cough, fever, asthma and other cold-related diseases continued to arrive at the hospitals.
Rangpur Civil Surgeon Dr Mostafa Zaman Chowdhury said physicians are providing health services to cold-related patients in hospitals and other health service facilities in Rangpur like other places across the district.
In the meantime, the district and upazila administrations, NGOs, voluntary and socio-cultural organisations have further intensified distribution of warm clothes among cold-stricken people to mitigate their sufferings in the region.
