KHULNA, Jan 18, 2025 (BSS) - District police have vowed to free the Sundarbans, the largest mangrove forest in the world, from all sorts of piracy and robbery.
"We will not lag behind to eliminate the forest piracy and robbery and the people or groups who will be found engaged in the misdeeds will be brought to book," said TM Mosharraf Hossain, Superintendent of Police (SP), while addressing a view-sharing meeting with local people here today.
Koira Police Station organized the meeting at its premises with the participation of a cross-section of people.
SP Mosharraf Hossain said their drive against drug-addiction and its illicit trafficking and trading, eve-teasing and smugglers will continue. He also said the police are engaged in serving people.
With GM Imdadul Haque, Officer-in-charge of Koira Police Station, in the chair, the meeting was addressed, among others, by valiant Freedom Fighter GM Mawla Baksha, Upazila Jamaate Amir Mawlana Rafiqul Islam, Upazila BNP Joint Convener Abul Hassan and student Golam Rabbani.
SP Mosharraf Hossain said stern action will be taken against any police personnel who will be found involved in harassing and repressing people.
