Ferry movement resumes after 7.45 hours in Aricha-Kazirhat

MANIKGANJ, Jan 22, 2025 (BSS) - The ferry movement resumed after 7.45 hours suspension due to dense fog disruption between the Aricha-Kazirhat river route in the river Jamuna today, Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Corporation (BIWTC) Aricha Ghat sources said.

BIWTC Aricha Ghat Manager Md Abdullah said the ferry movement between Aricha-Kazirhat was suspended at 2 am today due to poor visibility as the dense fog blanketed the river route, adding that four ferries Khan Jahan Ali, Dhan Shiri, Beer Shreshtha Hamidur Rahman and Chitra were in anchored at Aricha Ghat, while two ferries Shah Ali and Kishani were waiting at Kazirhat.

BIWTC Aricha Ghat Manager Md Abdullah said all the ferry movement started at 9:45 am today when the dense fog disappeared.

Meanwhile, the ferry movement resumed after six hours of disruption that was suspended due to dense fog at 3.30 am today BIWTC Paturia Ghat sources said.

BIWTC Paturia Ghat Deputy General Manager (DGM) Nasir Mahmud Chowdhury said three ferries Beer Shreshtha Ruhul Amin, Shah Enayetpuri and Hasna Hena were waiting at Puturia Ghat, where three ferries Beer Shreshtha Motiur Rahman, Dhaka and Shah Poran were at Daulatdia Ghat and three ferries Beer Shreshtha Jahangir, Vigar and Bonolota were stranded in the middle of the river Padma during the suspension period. All the ferries are running normally after the dense fog disappears, the DGM added.
