MANIKGANJ, Jan 25, 2025 (BSS) –The ferry movement between Aricha-Kazirhat route in the river Jamuna resumed after 8.45 hours suspension as the dense fog blanketed the water route , Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Corporation (BIWTC) sources said.
BIWTC Aricha Ghat Manager Md. Abdullah said the ferry movement between Aricha-Kazirhat was suspended at 10 pm on Friday for the poor visibility as the dense fog blanketed the river.
At the suspension period five ferries Beer Shreshtha Hamidur Rahman, Shah Poran, Shah Ali, Kishani, Dhan Shiri and Chitra were anchored at Aricha Ghat and ferry Khan Jahan Ali was at Kazirhat.
The ferry movement started at 6.45 am on Saturday when the dense fog disappeared, BIWTC Manager Md. Abdullah added.
Meanwhile, ferry movement between Paturia-Daulatdia resumed after a 3.25 hours suspension, BIWTC Paturia Ghat Deputy General Manager (DGM) Nasir Mahmud Chowdhury said.
The ferry movement was suspended at 3.20 am on Saturday due to dense fog disruption, adding that five ferries Beer Shreshtha Jahangir, Beer Shreshtha Motiur , Keramat Ali, Bonolota and Vigar were stranded at Paturia Ghat and eight ferries Shah Enayet puri, Beer Shreshtha Ruhul Amin, Shaheed Borkot, Shah Poran, Faridpur, Kopoti, Hasna Hena and Gouri were waiting at Daulatdia Ghat.
DGM said the ferry movement started at 6.45 am on Saturday when the dense fog disappeared, adding that all the ferries are running normally now.
