CHATTOGRAM, Jan 25, 2025 (BSS) - Chattogram Metropolitan Police (CMP) today said that miscreants have been trying to create unrest inside Chattogram Export Processing Zone (CEPZ) by spreading propaganda and rumours.

 Md. Raish Uddin, Deputy Commissioner (Crime) of CMP in a press briefing at its conference room said that recently some vested groups inside the industrial zone along with outsides have been deliberately spreading rumours centring small issues and trying to provoke workers to create an unstable situation in the EPZ. 

 Referring to a violent clash between factory workers and police, the CMP DC said a group of miscreants had spread rumours of missing and killing of three children inside an under construction building. 

 Based on the falsehood, around 200-250 agitated workers of nearby factories gathered in front of the building and at one stage they entered into the building damaging construction worker’s shed and office . 

The rowdy workers also set fire on two motor bikes parked there. Law enforcers brought the situation under control by dispersing the workers. Police also rescued the children in good health condition from inside the building. 

In presence of rescued children, police said the minor boys were handed over to their guardians under police supervision.

 CMP warned all quarters and individuals to refrain from spreading rumours and propaganda and requested all concern to maintain conducive production atmosphere inside the CEPZ.
