RANGPUR, Jan 26, 2025 (BSS) - Bangladesh's importance in international trade has been increasing following the uses of technology and modernisation in the current customs system.
"The more efficient the customs of a country, the more advance the country in trade expansion and economic progress," said Additional Tax Commissioner for Taxes Zone-Rangpur Md Mossarraf Hossain at a seminar here today.
The Divisional Customs, Excise and VAT Commissionerate organised the seminar at its conference room in observance of the International Customs Day 2025 with the theme 'Commitment in Customs Service, Efficiency, Security, Progress' in the city.
Commissioner of Customs, Excise and VAT Commissionerate, Rangpur Dr Abu Nur Rashed Ahmed presided over the seminar.
Deputy Tax Commissioner Md Habibur Rahman presented the keynote paper.
Topics like customs and clearance of goods, ensuring socio-economic security, revenue collection and economic prosperity, mitigating business risks through automation, facilitating trade, saving business costs and time, and bringing dynamism to import and export work were highlighted in the paper.
Additional Commissioner of Rangpur Divisional Customs, Excise and VAT Commissionerate Md Ziaur Rahman Khan, President of Rangpur Chamber of Commerce and Industry Md Akbar Ali, Acting President of Rangpur Metropolitan Chamber of Commerce and Industry Md Golam Zakaria Pintu, among others, also spoke.
