KHULNA, Jan 27, 2025 (BSS)- A cleanliness campaign has been launched in the
city aimed at making it free from the wastes of plastic and polythene.
World Vision, a non-government development organisation, will conduct the
campaign with the theme of "Building healthy Khulna city through ensuring
proper management of plastic and polythene wastes".
Additional Commissioner of Khulna Division Hussain Shawkat opened the
campaign at C&B Colony playground in the city calling all concerned to make
the campaign a total success.
With Secretary of Khulna City Corporation (KCC) Sharif Asif Rahman in the
chair, the opening ceremony was addressed, among others, by Director of the
Department of Environment (DoE) Sadiqul Islam, KCC Chief Waste Management
Officer Engineer Abdul Aziz and Chief Health Officer Dr Sharif Shammiul
Islam.
Additional Commissioner Hussain Shawkat urged all the city dwellers to be
united to build the city as environment-friendly and beautiful.
The campaign will be conducted in all roads, markets, colonies, bus stands,
educational institutions and other densely populated areas for making those
clean, disaster-resilient, green and healthy.
