BRAHMANBARIA, Feb 4, 2025 (BSS) - Two persons were killed and several others
injured in a clash between two rival groups over a long-standing land dispute
at Bishutara village under Sarail upazila of the district this morning.
The deceased were Azad Mia, 55, son of late Omar Ali and Amanat Mia, 60, son
of Mishir Ali, residents of Bishutara village of the upazila.
Police said Azad Ali and his nephew Insan Mia had a long-standing conflict
over a disputed land. Their family members often locked into a clash
centering the matter.
Witnesses said members of Amanat Mia's family entered Azad Ali's house and
attacked him with a sharp weapon, leaving him injured.
Following the matter, men of Insan Mia hacked Azad Ali to death with country-
made weapons when he was opening his shop this morning.
After that, Azad Ali's supporters attacked Amanat Mia, a supporter of Insan
Mia, and hit him with sharp weapons. Later, he succumbed to his injuries at
Brahmanbaria General Hospital.
Police arrested four people in this connection.
Immediately after the incident, police launched a raid to arrest the accused
and arrested four persons in this connection.
Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Sarail Police Station Md. Rafiqul Islam said two
people named Azad and Amanat were killed due to a disputed land and property
in the area.
