BNP’s 31-point proposal enough for state reform

CHATTOGRAM, Feb 11, 2025 (BSS) - Chattogram City Corporation (CCC) Mayor Dr. Shahadat Hossain has said that the 31-point reform proposal formulated by Bangladesh Nationalists Party (BNP) is enough for a sustainable state reform.  
 
“BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman has formulated 31-point proposal to bring a sustainable reform to the state as well as to determine what reforms will be made if BNP comes to power in future. ” he said. 
 
Dr. Shahadat Hossain, who was also former city unit BNP President made the remark while speaking as the chief guest at a seminar on "Open Discussion and Expression of Opinions" organized by Advanced Nationalists for Democracy (AND), a research-based organization of former Jatiyatabadi Chattra Dal (JCD) leaders of Chattogram University (CU). 
 
The seminar was held at CCC Library auditorium in Laldighi area in the city on Tuesday afternoon.
 
Terming reform as a continuous process, Dr Shahdat said an elected government can solve multifarious problems with strength, courage and skills besides bringing necessary reforms, which is not possible for an interim government.  
 
He said students are real vanguards of country’s all historic movements like July-August Uprising and the next generation must move forward imbuing with the spirit of the Martyred. 
 
“The sacrifices and contributions of Martyred Wasim Akram, a JCD leader and son of Chattogram region were not honored and recognized properly though only elevated expressway in the port city is named after him to end the discrimination and to pay homage to his memory ” he said.

Besides, the CCC Mayor announced that the park in the city’s Ambagan area will also be named after Shaheed Wasim.
 
With former Finance Secretary of JCD CU unit and AND member Hasan Ahmed in the chair, the function was also addressed, among others, by  Md. Iqbal Hossain, Md. Yasin, Jalal Uddin Mizbah, Shafayet Hossain, Lamia Labiba, Mahbubul Hasan, Aman Ullah, Rakibul Hasan, Shahab Uddin, Minhazur Rahman, Humayun Kabir, Rakibul Quader Niyon, Ainul Hossain Sagar and Nesar Uddin .
