CUMILLA, Feb 24, 2025 (BSS) - Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) in a drive arrested four robbers with drugs and country-made weapons from the Dharmapur Railway Station area under ??Adarsha ??Sadar upazila of the district today.

Lieutenant Commander Mahmudul Hasan, company commander of RAB-11 CPC-2 (Cumilla), said that due to the recent increase of crimes such as theft and robbery in the district, RAB increased their detective surveillance.

As part of the surveillance, a team of the elite force conducted a special drive in Dharmapur Railway Station area this morning and arrested four robbers with country-made weapons and drugs, he said.

The arrested are Ashiq, 32, Jamil Hossain, 19, Md. Jisan, 19, and Asifur Rahman Asif, 22, residents of different areas of the district.

They are all active members of the robbery gang. 

They usually take the passengers hostage at gunpoint and get off the train after snatching away valuables, including cash, from them.

In addition, they had been carrying out terrorist activities by using domestic weapons to intimidate the common people of the area, Mahmudul Hasan said. 

Multiple cases were pending against them with different Police Stations. They were handed over to Kotwali Model Police Station for legal action.
