SUNAMGANJ, Feb 26, 2025 (BSS) - A memorial meeting on Pilkhana tragedy martyr lieutenant colonel Elahi Manjur Chowdhury was held at the Shaheed Muktijoddha Jagotjoty Pathagar here last night.
Relatives, friends and well-wishers of Shaheed Elahi Manjur Chowdhury organized the memorial meeting on the occasion of his 15th death anniversary.
Chaired by retired principal Prof. Parimal Kanti Dey, the meeting was addressed, among others, by elder brother of Elahi Manjur and former president of Sunamganj Bar Association advocate Humayun Manjur Chowdhury, local public prosecutor Mallick Moinuddin Sohel, former presidents of the district bar association-Rabiul Rois Rakesh, Nazrul Islam Shefu and Tayebur Rahman Babul, president of district corruption prevention committee Prof Syed Mohibul Islam, poet Sukhendu Sen, Elahi Manjur's sister-in-law Rahena Manjur Chowdhury, district Ameer of Jamaat-e-Islami advocate Shamsuddin, president of Jatiyatabadi lawyers' forum advocate Masuk Alam, advocate Bazlur Rashid and general secretary of district bar association advocate Nure Alam Siddiqui Uzzwal.
Childhood friend of Elahi Manjur and former general secretary of district bar association advocate Ainul Islam Babul delivered the address of welcome at the meeting.
The speakers discussed the life and works of Elahi Manjur Chowdhury and termed him as a courageous and smart military officer.
They also termed him as pride of Sunamganj as well as the country.
They recalled all the 57 army officers who sacrificed their lives at the then BDR headquarters at Pilkhana on February 25, 2009.
