CHATTOGRAM, Feb 28, 2025 (BSS) – A wood-cutter was trampled to death by a wild
elephant in East Puichari area under Banshkhali upazia of the district in Friday morning.
The deceased was identified as Abu Siddique, 45, hailed from Bashira-Bari Ummul Quran
Madrasa area in the upazila.
Police and local people said Abu Siddique, a poor wood-cutter went to the Puichari forest in
the morning to collect wood. The victim died on the spot when a wild elephant attacked and
crushed him.
Hearing the news, locals gathered at the scene and recovered the body.
Range Officer of Jaldi Wildlife Sanctuary Anisuzzaman Sheikh confirmed the incident of
elephant attack and death of Siddique.
