CHATTOGRAM, March 1, 2025 (BSS) - The Followers of Mirzarkhill Darbar Sharif of Satkania upazila, Chilcilia Aliya Jahangir Peer and Shah Sufi Darbar Sharif at Elahabad of Chandanish upazila in Chattogram district have started fasting welcoming the holy Ramadan today. 

Disciples of those Mazar-centric Muslim religious communities in 62 villages started performing their Ramadan rituals including daylong fasting in line with the moon sighting in Saudi Arabia, Darbar sources informed.

Every year, the disciples of the religious spiritual centers usually start fasting in line with their long tradition maintaining Ramadan calendar as Middle East countries.

The villages where fasting started from today mainly are under Patiya, Chandanaish, Satkania, Anwara, Banshkhali, Fatikchari, Sitakunda in Chattogram, Chakaria upazila in Cox's Bazar and some villages in Feni district . 

As advanced fasting of Ramadan, the disciples of those Darbar Sharifs also usually celebrate Eid-ul-Fitr festival a day ahead keeping similarity with the Middle-East countries.
