SUNAMGANJ, Mar 4, 2025 (BSS) - The Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) seized Indian smuggled goods worth over Tk 20 lakh in separate drives along the frontier areas this morning.
The operations, conducted between 2 am and 7 am, were carried out under the supervision of BGB personnel from Dolura BOP, Chanpur BOP, Machimpur BOP, and Charagaon BOP.
Acting on a tip-off, BGB personnel intercepted a boat at Dolura BOP and seized 1,090 kg of Indian sugar, 78 kg of cumin, and 840 packets of bidi. Additionally, Chanpur BOP seized 750 kg of Indian sorghum, while Machimpur BOP confiscated 324 kg of sorghum along with 22 kg of sugar. Charagaon BOP also seized 2,000 kg of Indian coal.
Confirming the seizures, Sunamganj-28 BGB Commander Lt. Col. AKM Zakaria Qadir said the border guard force remains vigilant to ensure border security and prevent smuggling.
"We are continuing our operational and intelligence activities to safeguard the border and curb smuggling," he added.
