CHATTOGRAM, Mar 4, 2025 (BSS)- Retail price of per liter non-bottled open soybean oil has been fixed at Taka 160 per liter for greater Chattogram market.

The decision was taken at a meeting of District Administration Market Monitoring Special Task Force Committee at local Circuit House on today.

Under the decision, importers and millers will sell per liter non-bottled soybean oil at Taka 153 while wholesaler and dealers will sell to retailers at Taka155. Consumers will pay Taka 160 for per liter bottled soybean.

The price today will remain effected till April 10, 2025, the meeting decided.

The decision was taken to keep the prices of edible oil and daily essentials at tolerable level in the market on the occasion of holy Ramadan, meeting source said.

City Mayor Dr. Shahadat Hossain and Deputy Commissioner Farida Khanam requested all to comply with the decision and warned of taking stern action otherwise.

Senior officials of big business groups like T.K and City Group, leading wholesalers from Khatunganj and representatives of consumer organizations were present at the meeting.

The City Mayor and the Deputy Commissioner yesterday visited Khatunganj, the country’s largest commodity wholesale market, to see the stock and supply situation following sudden price spiral of edible oil and disappearance of bottled edible oil from the market.

The rate was fixed as importers, millers and wholesalers have agreed and gave their consent to comply with the rate.

The decision will come into effect from today (Tuesday) and will exist until April 10. If anyone to sell edible oil at a price higher, the special task force committee of the district administration and CCC will take legal action against them, CCC Mayor said.
