SUNAMGANJ, Mar 5, 2025 (BSS) - A district-level seminar on the role of Zakat in poverty alleviation was held at the conference room of the Deputy Commissioner (DC) in the district today. 

The district administration and the Islamic Foundation (IF) jointly organized it with the participation of imams from various mosques in the district.

Deputy Commissioner (DC) Dr Mohammad Ilias Miah attended the seminar as the chief guest with Deputy Director of Sunamganj Islamic Foundation Mohammad Mosharraf Hossain in the chair.

Sunamganj Public Prosecutor (PP) Advocate Mallick Moin Uddin Sohel, Sadar Upazila Parishad Pesh Imam Mujibur Rahman, Pesh Imam of District Model Mosque Hafez Maulana Mofizur Rahman and Pesh Imam of Wejkhali Jame Mosque Maulana Ashraf Uddin were present there, among others.

The speakers highlighted the importance of Zakat and the role of Zakat in poverty alleviation.
