CHATTOGRAM, March 5, 2025 (BSS)-Chattogram City Mayor Dr. Shahadat Hossain warned that administration will take stern legal action if anyone tries to destabilize the market by selling or hoarding open edible oil at a higher price than the fixed price. 
 
Dr. Shahadat said these while visiting the city's Kazir Dewri Bazar on Wednesday.
 
The mayor said the price of open edible oil has been fixed. Legal action will be taken against them if anyone charges more than fixed price.
 
 A monitoring team has closely been working in each market under the joint initiative of the city corporation and district administration to keep the market stable. 
 
“Some traders have claimed that they bought oil at a higher price, so they want to sell it at a higher price. But we have clearly stated that it cannot be sold at a higher price than the fixed price,” he added.
 
 Dr Shahdat said although bottled oil is available in the market but the supply of open oil is low . 
 
He directed the traders to increase the supply of open oil so that the mass people can buy oil at the fixed price. 
 
The drive will continue until the market is completely under control. 
 
The city Mayor urged the buyers to protest and inform the city corporation's monitoring team if they charge more than the fixed price. 
 
CCC Secretary Ashraful Amin and magistrate Chaiti Sarvavidya among others were present at the time.
