BAGERHAT, March 9, 2025 (BSS) - A preparatory meeting was held here today to discuss the observance of Independence Day.

 Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Ariful Islam presided over the meeting at the conference room of Bagerhat DC office this noon.

The meeting decided to hold a number of programs to be observed from March 20. The events include cultural and religious activities, drawing and essay competitions, poetry recitations, screening films and documentaries on the Liberation War, special prayers at mosques, temples, and churches and placing floral wreaths at the Liberation War Monument at sunrise.

Besides, the meeting decided to hold a 31-gun salute, hoisting of the national flag, a parade featuring members of Ansar, VDP, police and Rover Scouts at the Bagerhat Stadium.

District Commissioner Ahmed Kamrul Hasan, Additional Superintendent of Police Mohammad Mahidur Rahman, Municipal Administrator Dr. Fakrul Hasan, Information Officer Mainul Islam, District Sports Officer Hussein Ahmad, Liberation War Commander Ashadur Rahman, District Education Officer Saidur Rahman, and UNOs were present in the meeting, among others.
