DINAJPUR, March 10, 2025 (BSS) - National Disaster Preparedness Day was observed today in the district with various programmes.
The theme of this day is "Disaster Forecasting, Preparation, Saves Lives".
The day was observed with the participation of youths under the initiative of the district administration and Disaster Management Department.
A colourful rally was brought out marking the day at noon which paraded different roars of the town and ended at the Deputy Commissioner's office premises.
Later, a discussion meeting and a drill program to increase awareness on earthquakes and fires were also held Dinajpur Boro math.
Deputy Commissioner Md. Rafiqul Islam spoke the programme as the chief guest.
He said that everyone should be ready to protect their family and the country's assets from various disasters. “Disasters do not come with advance notice, but we must be careful about what to do in case of disaster,” he added.
This season's fire incidents are happening very often in the country. He urged everyone to immediately inform the local fire service department if such a fire incident occurs.
Presided over by District Relief and Rehabilitation Officer Engineer Md. Anisur Rahman, the event was addressed, among others, by Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) Mohammad Nur-e-Alam and Police Inspector Parimal Chakraborty, Dinajpur Fire Service and Civil Defense Deputy Assistant Director Md. Bazlur Rashid and Additional District Livestock Officer Dr. Md. Golam Kibria.
The program was conducted by Fire Service Senior Station Officer Md. Obaidul Haque.
The event was attended by officials from the District Relief and Rehabilitation Officer's office, various government departments, teachers and students of educational institutions, youth members of Dinajpur Red Crescent Society, Rover Scouts.
In the second phase, a fascinating earthquake and fire awareness exercise was performed under the supervision of Fire Service and Civil Defense.
