One held with 15 gold bars in Satkhira border

SATKHIRA, March 10, 2025 (BSS) - Members of the Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) in a drive arrested a man with 15 gold bars worth about Taka 2.5 crore from the Abader Hat frontier area in Sadar upazila last night.

On a tip-off, a team of BGB-33 Battalion conducted a drive in the aforementioned area and arrested easy bike driver Sohel and recovered the gold bars weighing about two kgs after searching his vehicle, said a press release signed by BGB-33 Battalion Commander Lt. Col. Md. Ashraful Haque.

The consignment of gold was being smuggled to India through the Abader Hat border area of Satkhira, the press release said.

The arrested person will be handed over to Sadar Police Station while the seized gold bars will be deposited to the Satkhira Treasury Office.
