BAGERHAT, March 12, 2025 (BSS) - Various stakeholders, including businessmen and district officials, today said that the prices of essential commodities here in the district are lower during this holy month of Ramadan, compared to the previous year.

The prices of essential goods are at an affordable range in Bagerhat, they shared the observation at a view-exchange meeting on market conditions and food safety, held this morning at the deputy commissioner's conference room.

The event was jointly organised by the district administration and the Consumers Association of Bangladesh (CAB), Bagerhat branch.

Deputy Commissioner Ahmed Kamrul Hasan attended the meeting as the chief guest, while Additional Police Superintendent Mahidur Rahman was present as the special guest. Additional District Administrator (Revenue) Maminur Rashid presided over the meeting.

Kamrul Hasan said the district administration is actively conducting mobile courts, including five special teams, to monitor market activities and ensure that essential goods remain affordable across the district.

Expert on food safety Shamim Ahmed, Shankar Kumar of chamber of commerce and industry, cosmetics owners' association general secretary Mostafa Hossen, kitchen market traders' association general secretary Aslam Molla, meat traders' association president Abdus Salam and rice traders' association leader Makbul Hossen spoke at the meeting, among others.
