Highway police takes comprehensive plan for smooth traffic management

RANGPUR, Mar 13, 2025 (BSS) – Ahead of Eid-ul-Fitr festival, the Highway Police Rangpur region has chalked out a comprehensive security plan to create a systematic and safe highway through proper traffic management.
 
Highway police Rangpur region Superintendent of Police (SP) Mohammad Tariqul Islam is overseeing the traffic management plan to make the highways of Rangpur division free of traffic congestion to ensure smooth and safe journey of home-bound passengers during the upcoming Eid-ul-Fitr.
 
To make the plan successful, the Highway Police SP is conducting hectic activities like sharing of views with line managers of different bus companies, counter masters of inter-district and long-distance bus companies in Rangpur region.
 
In addition, he is exchanging views with leaders of the Truck Owners Associations and Motor Vehicle Owners Associations, and representatives of the anti-discrimination student movement, journalists and all concerned for the purpose.
 
Talking to BSS tonight, SP Mohammad Tariqul Islam said he has strengthened proper traffic management and security measures around Gobindaganj point, a gateway to Rangpur division.
 
He said additional 50 police personnel are being deployed only in the Gobindaganj and Palashbari highway areas on the Dhaka-Rangpur highway in Gaibandha district.
 
Additionally, extra patrols have been deployed in the Gobindaganj, Palashbari, Bara Dorga, Shothibari and Taraganj areas while Highway police stations on the Dhaka-Rangpur highway in Gaibandha and Rangpur have taken special steps to this end.
 
The Highway Police SP today talked to counter masters of different bus companies in Gobindaganj and coordinated with the Roads and Highways Department to repair the road to relieve traffic congestion in Maya Moni Mour area in Gobindaganj.
 
To prevent road accidents, Highway Police SP Mohammad Tariqul Islam called for controlling the speed of vehicles and using two drivers for long-distance vehicles.

To prevent robberies and other crimes in highways, he requested not to pick up passengers wherever they are, to inform about suspicious passengers, to keep video footage of the passengers, and to cooperate with the Highway police during checking.
 
He said video recording in buses and check post activities have been strengthened to prevent robberies and crimes.
