RAJSHAHI, March 16, 2025 (BSS) - Rajshahi City Corporation (RCC) has successfully achieved its 100 percent target in the Vitamin A Plus Campaign 2025, held yesterday, in line with the national observance.
According to an RCC press release, a total of 66,620 children received Vitamin A plus capsules during the campaign.
Among the recipients, 8,715 children aged between six to eleven months were given a blue-colored capsule, while 57,905 children aged 12 to 59 months received a red-colored capsule.
The campaign was conducted across 384 centers by 768 volunteers, operating from 8:00am to 4:00pm simultaneously throughout the city.
Talking to BSS, RCC chief health officer Dr Anjuman Ara Begum emphasized the critical role of Vitamin A in maintaining normal visual function, supporting cell growth, red blood cell production, immunity, and reproduction.
She added that Vitamin A supplementation significantly reduces mortality rates caused by diarrhoea and measles, prevents issues such as poor eyesight and night blindness, and helps reduce the severity and duration of illnesses like pneumonia and diarrhoea.
Dr Anjuman highlighted the campaign's vital role in improving public health in the city.
