KHULNA, March 18, 2025 (BSS) – Commemorating the country's declaration of independence from Pakistan in 1971, the Khulna district administration has taken various programs to observe Independence and National Day 2025 on March 26.
Wreaths will be placed at the Gallamari Martyr’s Memorial after the sunrise and the national flag will be hoisted on all government, semi-government, autonomous, and private buildings and institutions on the day. The day will commence with a 31-gun salute at the Khulna Metropolitan Police Lines at 12 past one minute, said a press release issued by Khulna Regional Press Information Department (PID) Office today.
Khulna divisional commissioner will hoist the national flag at the Khulna District Stadium in the morning. A student gathering and parade will also be held at the same venue.
A reception ceremony will be organized at the Khulna District Shilpakala Academy auditorium to honor freedom fighters and families of martyrs.
Various educational institutions will arrange programs, highlighting the significance of Independence and National Day at a convenient time.
Khulna City Corporation will also organize essay and painting competitions based on the Liberation War.
Liberation War-based films will be screened in cinema halls and open spaces. Special meals will be provided at hospitals, prisons, old age homes, and orphanages, street children rehabilitation centers, disability welfare centers, daycare centers, children’s homes, and vagrant shelters.
Special prayers will be held in mosques after the Zuhr prayers, and prayers will also be arranged in temples, churches, pagodas, and other places of worship for national peace and progress.
On the same day, a naval ship will be open to the public at the BIWTA Rocket Ghat.
Major roads and roundabouts of the city will be decorated with national flags, banners, festoons, and colorful decorations.
Important government, semi-government, autonomous, and private buildings and establishments will be illuminated in the evening.
On the occasion, cricket tournaments, football matches, and kabaddi will be arranged for students of schools, colleges, and madrasas at the district and upazila levels.
Parks, museums, genocide museums, and other historical sites in Khulna will be open to children without entry fees from morning to evening.
Khulna City Corporation will showcase objective and rare documentary photographs on genocide in important areas.
