Cover of July Uprising publication 'Chhatrish' unveiled in Rangpur

RANGPUR, March 18, 2025 (BSS) - The cover of the July Uprising magazine 'Chhatrish' was unveiled at 'July Commemoration and Cover Unveiling' function organized by the Aparajito-24 at the Rangpur Public Library Hall Room in the city today.
 
The Aparajito-24, a sociocultural organisation of the city, published the magazine in memory of the mass uprising to convey the spirit and glorious history of the July Uprising to the students and public in written form.  
 
Shaheed Abu Sayeed's younger sister Sumi Khatun, Shaheed journalist Tahir Zaman Priyo's mother Shamsi Ara Zaman, Acting Headmaster of Begum Rokeya Girls' High School Roksana Begum, District Photojournalist of 'Kaler Kantha' Rangpur Golzar Rahman Adar, Advisor of Dhaka University's literary magazine 'Siren' Salman Siddiqui, and one of the organizers of the anti-discrimination movement Yugesh Tripura jointly unveiled the cover and addressed the function. 
 
Aparajito-24 Advisor Saju Basfor, its member-secretary Joy Busfor, Joint Convener Wasib Ahmed and Member Pranoy Mahanta, also spoke. 
 
The speakers said that this publication has recorded the struggle of Shaheed Abu Sayeed, Tahir Zaman Priyo and other martyrs and brave people of Rangpur in the July Uprising.  
 
Through this publication, an attempt has been made to preserve history and tell the history of the struggle to the next generations as preserving history properly is a very important task. 
 
They demanded a speedy trial of the July massacre and said that the interim government should give importance to ensuring that there is no harassment or litigation in the July uprising murder cases. 
 
Arrangements should be made for the treatment and rehabilitation of the injured July uprising soldiers. 
 
They said that the youth still have to work to realize the dream of a non-discriminatory, non-communal, democratic, corruption-free beautiful society that they had seen through the July mass uprising. 
 
Everyone should work together so that every citizen can live with his rights and farmers and workers get fair value and dignity for their labor. 
 
They said that there have been incidents of rape and oppression of women and children in recent times. The state should arrange for speedy trial against these. 
 
They called on everyone to commit to building a non-discriminatory, democratic Bangladesh in the spirit of numerous martyrs including Shaheed Abu Sayeed, Shaheed Tahir Zaman Priya. 
 
Finally, Saju Basfor expressed their deepest gratitude to those who have cooperated in various ways in publishing the magazine 'Chhatrish' in commemoration of the mass uprising.
