LAXMIPUR, Mar 19, 2025 (BSS) - Eid shopping at different markets of the district town got momentum and the shoppers are happy with existing law and order of the district.
Local administration and local people said, shoppers are crowding at different markets for Eid shopping till midnight. The markets were decorated with colourful lights, banners and festoons.
The district administration and police have taken adequate security measures to ensure safety and security of the buyers with continuous patrolling and strict vigilance, official sources said here today.
Local administration deputed mobile courts in the premises of the markets to take quick action against the miscreants and check any deceptive attempt of the shoppers to take high price of the items, making the buyers and shoppers happy.
Huge crowd was seen at municipal markets, masjid market, muktijoddha market, boutique house, Zia complex, Gazi complex and other shops in five upazilas and Chandraganj thana areas.
The gathering of buyers is increasing day by day as the date of the holy Eid-ul-Fitr is coming closer. The shoppers have been passing their busy time from morning to midnight.
Attractive brands were displaying in different shops but the items with the name of Indian serial are very few. Local brands are available in the markets.
Eid attires and shoes of babies and small kids are being sold extensively while cosmetics remain at the top of girls along with their dress.
Businessmen of Lakshipur hawkers’ market Abdul Aziz and Abu Sayed told journalists that the demand of Pakistani dresses has increased this year by defeating last few years’ growing demands for Indian dresses.
The trading in these shops and markets are better than previous years as the prices are reasonable and comparatively low. Shope owners said they are happy with the overall law and order as incidents of extortion and mugging are very low this year.
Md Jamshed Alam Rana, Nirbahi Officer of Lakshipur Sadar Upazila said that mobile courts are active on round the clock so that shopkeepers could not charge excess from the buyers.
Police has taken strong security measures at different markets, shopping complexes and important points of the district to ensure safety and security of the customers and shoppers, SP Tarek Bin Rashid said.
Police has set up close circuit cameras in different strategic areas of the town to prevent theft, dacoity and other crimes, he said.
