BGB detains 24 Bangladeshis for alleged attempts to cross into India

JHENAIDAH, March 20, 2025 (BSS) – Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) detained 24 Bangladeshis, including women and children, for their alleged attempts to enter India through Maheshpur border in Jhenaidah.

BGB members conducted operations on Border Outposts (BOPs) in Cumillapara, Baghadanga, Medinipur, and Srinathpur from Wednesday midnight to this afternoon and arrested them, according to a press release issued by Saiful Islam, Assistant Director of Maheshpur 58 BGB Battalion today.

The arrestees include five women and four children.

Besides, BGB recovered Indian liquor, viagra and VoIP gateway sets in the operations.

The arrestees are Joy Mandal ,24, of Kathalia village under Dumuria police station in Khulna, Shariful Islam ,34, son of Amsar Ali of Baikari Sardarpara in Satkhira Sadar upazila, Jahangir Hossain ,34, son of Abdus Salam of the same village, Hasan Howlader ,25, son of late Yunus Howlader of Barabadura village in Morelganj, Bagerhat, Salauddin ,20, son of Ajibar of Baghadanga Paschimpara in Maheshpur, Badsha Sheikh ,31, son of Afzal Sheikh of Suktagram in Kalia upazila in Narail, Alamin ,19, son of Rostam Ali of Kharia village in the same upazila, Mofazzel Mollah son of Afzal Mollah of Kulshura village in the same upazila, Nikhil Mandal ,62, son of Jyotish Mandal of Majerabad Boyarjhapa village in Paikgachha, Khulna, Chanibar Rahman ,42, son of Hayat Ali of Failjana village, Jahangir Alam ,42, son of Tofazzal of the same village, Chinmoy Mridha ,24, son of Chaitanya Mridha of Latenga village in Kotalipara upazila of Gopalganj, Ali Ahmed ,62, son of late Gafur Sheikh of Perikhali village in Rampal upazila of Bagerhat, Anik Biswas ,19, son of Ashutosh Biswas of Dakshin Shashikar village in Kalkini upazila of Madaripur and Tariqul Islam ,31, son of Amsar Ali of Baikari Sardarpara village in Satkhira Sadar.

The women and children were sent to Jashore Justice and Care Centre while other detainees were handed over to the Maheshpur police station
