RANGPUR, March 21, 2025 (BSS) - The anti-discrimination student movement and the National Citizens’ Committee held a protest march-rally in the divisional city of Rangpur on Friday night demanding banning of Awami League.

The procession left the Rangpur Press Club premises around 8 pm and returned to the same place after circumambulation of various roads before holding a brief rally.

Student leaders and general students expressed their determination to continue the fight before the Awami League is banned.

At the time, the protesters shouted slogans like 'Awami League's address will not be in this Bengal; Awami League's-Hasina’s-'Raw'' agents and Awami League-must be banned immediately.

Student leaders spoke at the rally demanding that the fallen Awami League be banned and that the fascist Sheikh Hasina be brought back to the country and brought to justice.

Imtiaz Ahmed Imti, the convener of the Rangpur metropolitan city anti-discrimination student movement, said that Sheikh Hasina and Awami League emptied the breasts of thousands of mothers in July.

“More than 18,000 students and the public were injured. How much more crimes should have the Awami League committed so that the party would be banned? The fate of Bangladesh will be decided from the streets,” he said.

Alamgir Nayan, the organizer of the Rangpur National Citizens' Committee, said that Sheikh Hasina is conspiring in various ways to destabilize the country while sitting in India.

Those who are working to rehabilitate Awami League will be stopped on the streets.

“If necessary, the students and the public of this country will take to the streets once again like the July Revolution. The July Revolution cannot be allowed to fail in any way,” he said.

The rally was also addressed by Imran Ahmed, convener of the Rangpur district committee of the anti-discrimination student movement, its member-secretary Dr. Ashfaq Ahmed Jamil, member-secretary of its metropolitan committee Rahmat Ali, its joint convener Motawakil Billah, and others.

Imran Ahmed said, "We were martyred in July, what are we afraid of? As long as there is blood in our bodies, Awami League has no chance to do politics.”

Dr. Ashfaq Ahmed Jamil said the red card has been shown to the Awami League with the red blood of those who gave their blood to free the country in July.

Rahmat Ali said, “We will give our lives but will not let the spirit of July be defeated. We will not be dishonest with the martyrs. We will not leave the streets until the mass murderer Hasina is tried and the Awami League is banned.”

At this time, they called upon all the students and people of the country to remain united to stop the rehabilitators of the Awami League.
