RANGPUR, March 23, 2025 (BSS) - Rapid Action Battalion (RAB)-13 arrested two main accused in the sensational Sagar murder case of Savar model police station in Dhaka from Nageshwari upazila of Kurigram on Saturday evening within 48 hours of filing the case.
"The arrested persons are: prime accused Shafiq @ Pasha, 23, son of Abdul Jalil, of Dwarika area under Babuganj police station of Barisal and third accused Md. Fazlu Karim @ Lebu, 20, son of Md. Ashraf Ali, of village Tularfida under Nageswari police station of Kurigram," said in a press release today.
According to the complaint filed by the plaintiff, victim Sagor worked as a painter and lived in the rented house of one Pintu Saheb, a resident of Dogarmor area under Savar model police station.
The accused blocked the victim's path at 11:10 p.m. on March 18, 2025, at Pathanpara Dogarmor area under Savar model police station.
"Before the victim could realize anything, the accused inflicted a serious bloody wound on the left side of the victim's back with a knife and a serious blow to the back of the left leg," the release said.
The victim fell to the ground and nearby people took him to Enam Medical College Hospital where the attending doctor declared him dead.
The victim's mother Lata Begum filed a murder case with Savar model police station in this connection on March 21, 2025.
This murder created a huge sensation in the area and the media and the matter came to the notice of the Crime Prevention Specialised Company (CPSC) of RAB-13.
The elite force enhanced intelligence activities to arrest the accused and confirmed their location in Nageshwari upazila of Kurigram.
On a tip-off, a smart operational team of the CPSC of RAB-13 conducted a raid in Egaromatha Bazar under Nageshwari upazila in Kurigram on Saturday at 7:05 pm and arrested the two accused from the spot.
"The arrested accused persons were handed over to Savar model police station for further action," the release added.
