RANGPUR, March 23, 2025 (BSS) - Rangpur metropolitan committee of the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement organised an Iftar and Doa mahfil at the city's historic Collector's Eidgah ground on Saturday afternoon.
The programme was organized in honor of all the injured and martyred language soldiers, heroic freedom fighters, martyrs and injured fighters of the July Uprising, as well as students, workers, anti-fascist politicians, professionals, ulama and prominent citizens.
Farzana Dina, the central joint chief organizer of the National Citizen Party (NCP), attended the programme as the chief guest.
Member-secretary of Rangpur metropolitan Committee of the anti-discrimination student movement Md Rahmat Ali moderated the programme.
Rangpur metropolitan BNP convener Shamsuzzaman Samu, president of the metropolitan Islami Chhatra Shibir Nurul Huda, Gono Adhikar Parishad leader Hanif Khan Sajib, convener of the Rangpur metropolitan anti-discrimination student movement Imtiaz Ahmed Imti, its Begum Rokeya University coordinator Ashikur Rahman Ashiq, among others, addressed.
Injured fighters of the July Revolution and members of the families of the martyrs also spoke.
NCP central joint chief organizer Farzana Dina said, the fallen Awami fascists and their accomplices are trying to raise their heads again. Various efforts are being made to rehabilitate them.
"But we want to make it clear that the Awami League will not be given any opportunity for rehabilitation. First, the trial of the mass murderer Hasina and the Awami League must be ensured," she said.
She emphasized the need for constituent assembly elections to address the political crisis following the downfall of fascism.
"To achieve this, we must build consensus and prioritize the establishment of a second republic," she stated.
At this time, she called on all to remain united for the development of Rangpur and said, "No matter which party or political ideology we belong to, our goal will be to take Rangpur forward."
Rangpur metropolitan Anti-Discrimination Student Movement convener Imtiaz Ahmed Imti said that political parties must work together to build a beautiful and prosperous Bangladesh.
"We are determined to work together with all political parties to build a prosperous and beautiful Rangpur," he said.
Later, special munajats were offered in memory of the martyrs and the injured of the July Uprising and the people of Gaza, seeking peace, prosperity, and unity for the Muslim Ummah.
