RANGPUR, March 24, 2025 (BSS) - Rapid Action Battalion (RAB)-13 arrested the accused on charge of forcefully raping a physically disabled young girl of Mithapukur upazila in Rangpur from Gazipur district on Sunday afternoon.
 
"The arrestee is Md Nazrul Islam, 50, of village Fakirpara under Mithapukur upazila of Rangpur," said a press release issued here today.
 
According to the complaint filed by the plaintiff, accused Nazrul Islam forcibly raped the physically disabled girl on February 2, 2023 at 02:30 pm in a sugarcane field in Fakirpara village, tempting her with marriage.
 
Later, the victim's brother, Md Bidyut Mia, filed a case of rape and intimidation in this incident at Mithapukur police station in Rangpur district.
 
The matter also came to the notice of the Crime Prevention Specialised Company (CPSC) of RAB-13.
 
Intensifying intelligence activities to arrest the accused, the elite force confirmed the location of the accused at Gazipur Metropolitan Basan police station area.
 
Based on intelligence information, a joint operational team of the CPSC of RAB-13 in Rangpur and CPSC of RAB-1 in Gazipur conducted a raid in Bhogra Bypass area under Basan police station and arrested accused Nazrul Islam at 02:15 pm on Sunday.
 
For taking further legal actions against the arrested rapist, the elite force handed him over to Mithapukur police station in Rangpur, the release added.
