KHULNA, March 25, 2025 (BSS) - The government is distributing 1,461.38 metric tonnes of rice among 1, 46,138 distressed families in the district ahead of Eid-ul-Fitr, started from yesterday .
Under the Vulnerable Group Feeding Programme (VGF), the rice has been allotted under the 1, 46,138 VGF Cards of 68 unions under nine upazilas and two pourosova in the district.
According to District Relief Office, a total of 130.780 tonnes rice were allotted for 13,078 VGF cards holder beneficiaries family in Batiaghata upazila , 105.370 tonnes of rice for 10537 families in Dakop upazila , 261.360 tonnes of rice for 26,136 families in Dumuria upazila , 131.670 tonnes of rice for 13,167 families in Dighalia upazila , 179.510 tonnes of rice for 17,951 families in Koyra upazila , 215.890 tonnes of rice for 21,589 families in Paikgachha upazila , 118.750 tonnes of rice for 11,875 families in Fultala upazila ,140.360 tonnes of rice for 14,036 families in Rupsha upazila, 100.670 tonnes of rice for 10,067 families in Terokhada upazila .
Besides , 46.210 tonnes of rice for 4,621 families in Paikgachha pourosova and 30.810 tonnes of rice for 3,081 families in Chalna pourosova.
Khulna District Relief and Disaster Management officer Abdul Karim said, "We are already distributing VGF rice among beneficiary card holders."
Each beneficiary is getting 10 kgs of VGF rice under the programme , he added.
He also said, “If we receive any irregularities complaint from anybody tougher action will be taken against him.”
