KHULNA, March 25, 2025 (BSS) - Khulna District Administration, different socio-cultural organisations and political parties have chalked out elaborate programmes to celebrate the Independence Day tomorrow (March 26).
The programmes were finalized at a preparatory meeting at the conference room of the Deputy Commissioner's (DC's) Office on March 18.
Chaired by Deputy Commissioner of Khulna Mohammad Saiful Islam, the meeting was attended, among others, by freedom fighters, elites, officials, educationists, journalists, political and cultural activists of the city.
A 31-gun salute at dawn at the Khulna Police Line ground will herald the Independence Day.
Khulna Divisional Commissioner Md. Firoz Sarkar will hoist the National Flag at Khulna district stadium and will take salute from the parade. Besides, Khulna Shishu Academy will organize an art and painting competition for children on Liberation War to mark the day.
A discussion meeting and a reception to the freedom fighters will be held at the District Shilpakala Academy.
On the day, national flags will be hoisted atop all public and private buildings at dawn and floral wreaths will be placed by the people of all walks of life at the Gallyamary Monument.
Special prayers will be offered at mosques, temples, churches and other worship places seeking divine blessings for peace and progress of the country and its people.
Improved diet will be served at all hospitals, orphanages and jails to mark the day. State-run Khulna Betar will broadcast special programmes while the local newspapers will bring out special supplements on the occasion.
Besides, different political parties like Khulna city and district units of BNP, National Citizen Party (NCP), Jamaat-e-Islami Bangladesh, Gana Adhikar Parishad will hold different programmes to observe the Independence Day.
The programmes include hoisting of national and party flags and placing of floral wreaths at the Gallamary Martyrdom Memorial on March 26 anddiscussion will be held at all respective party offices, according to separate press releases of different parties.
Additionally, Khulna University (KU), Khulna University of Engineering and Technology (KUET), Khulna City Corporation (KCC), Khulna WASA, Khulna Press Club, Khulna Metropolitan Union of Journalists (MUJ), Mongla Port Authority (MPA) and different socio-cultural and political parties will observe the Independence Day in a befitting manner.
