Three Rangpur businesses fined Tk 65,000 for consumer rights violations

RANGPUR, March 25, 2025 (BSS) - Three business establishments here in the city were fined a total of Tk 65,000 for violating regulations during a drive by the Directorate of National Consumer Rights Protection (NCRP) on Monday.

Hotel Palace, located at Grand Hotel Mour, was fined Tk 7,000 for preparing food in unsanitary conditions and storing stale food. Swapna Supershop in the same area was fined Tk 8,000 for selling packaged products without displaying price lists. Al Medina Showroom, located at Paira Chattar, faced a Tk 50,000 fine for selling clothes at inflated prices.

Mamtaz Begum, assistant director of NCRP's Rangpur divisional office, briefed local journalists about the actions taken. 

NCRP officials said such drives will continue to ensure consumer protection and maintain fair market practices.
