NATORE, March 25, 2025 (BSS) - The district information office today held a discussion at Sher-e-Bangla High School, to mark the country's Genocide Day when Pakistani occupation forces killed hundreds of unarmed civilians through the Operation Searchlight on March 25 night, 1971.
District information officer Md. Abdul Awal presided over the programme.
District education officer Rustom Ali, Freedom Fighter engineer Sheikh Md. Farid, district assistant education officer Suvas Kumar Mandal, head teacher of Sher-E-Bangla High School Abdul Hai Pathan, and Natore Press Club president Farazi Ahamed Rafiq Baban spoke at the event, among others.
Speakers at the programme said the brutal killing was preplanned and it intended to wipe out Bengali nation.
They said despite the Pakistan occupation forces' malicious purpose, their plan ultimately went in vein.
Besides, a short film was played at the event.
Earlier, Natore deputy commissioner Asma Shahin and police super Md. Amjad Hossain paid tributes to the martyrs by laying wreaths at the Fulbagan killing field in the morning.
