CHANDPUR, March 26, 2025(BSS) - Chandpur district administration today accorded reception to 350 renowned freedom fighters at Chandpur Club auditorium to mark the Independence Day.
Chaired by the deputy commissioner (DC) of Chandpur Mohammad Mohsin Uddin, the reception was addressed, among others, by superintendent of police (SP) Muhammad Abdur Rakib, sadar upazila nirbahi officer (UNO) Sakhawat Jamil Shaikot, journalist BM Hannan, freedom fighters Abdul Hamid Master, Shahjahan Gazi, Sirajul Islam Borkandaz, Mujibur Rahman and Dr Kazi Hashem.
During his speech, DC Mohsin Uddin expressed deep respect for the freedom fighters, calling them the "best sons" of Bangladesh's history and the true heroes of the nation's liberation.
Reflecting on the significance of this day in 1971, he emphasized the importance of the struggle for independence from oppression. "The freedom fighters are the most honorable individuals in our society, for they brought us freedom," the DC said.
He further highlighted the importance of the three key dates in the nation's history - March 26, December 16, and February 21 - stating that these milestones can never be surpassed or forgotten.
"We must always respect these days, as they symbolize our independence and sacrifice," he said.
The DC also expressed his commitment to supporting freedom fighters, instructing his officers to offer their full assistance and utmost respect to them.
He urged the freedom fighters to remain united and forgive past mistakes for the greater good.
At the conclusion of the ceremony, DC Mohsin Uddin, along with other dignitaries, distributed Eid gifts to the freedom fighters and their families, further honoring their contributions to the nation's freedom.
