RANGPUR, March 29, 2025 (BSS) - Ahead of the upcoming Eid-ul-Fitr, the Highway Police of the Rangpur region has taken extensive preparations, ensuring a safe and comfortable journey for the people of Rangpur division this time.

Superintendent of Police (SP) of the Highway Police Rangpur Region, Mohammad Tariqul Islam, informed BSS today that the 250-kilometer stretch of the Bogra-Rangpur-Saidpur-Dosh Mile-Banglabandha highway is free from traffic congestion and crime this time.

More than 325 Highway Police personnel have already been deployed on this highway under Rangpur region. In addition, the district police authorities concerned are working jointly shoulder-to-shoulder with the Highway Police.

Several teams of the Bangladesh Army are working with the Highway Police day and night as the traffic pressure on the highway has already increased threefold in Rangpur division.

"Due to the extensive activities of the Highway Police, Bangladesh Army and other forces, there has been no traffic jam anywhere," the Highway Police SP said.

However, due to road repairs at places in Gobindaganj and Palashbari areas of Gaibandha district, vehicles are moving a little slowly in those areas.

Highway Police SP Mohammad Tariqul Islam is regularly supervising the police duty on the highway at two levels digitally and manually.

He said, "This year's Eid journey in Rangpur division will be safe, traffic-free and comfortable, Insha-Allah."

On Friday, from midnight to early morning, during the duty supervision of the Superintendent of Police, he said that the Army and Ansar are working with the Highway Police at different places on the highway.

"As a result, the speed of work has increased further," he said, adding that control rooms have been opened in Gobindaganj of Gaibandha and in the Superintendent of Police's office in Rangpur city.

Surveillance is being carried out under CCTV cameras at junction points throughout Gobindaganj.

He said, "Highway Police apps have been launched centrally for passengers to provide any information online. We advise passengers to use Highway Police apps in any adverse situation."

The Highway Police SP sincerely requested everyone concerned to abide by traffic laws during this public journey and called on the local public to cooperate with the Highway Police.

According to passengers Nurul Islam, Mahfuza Begum and Moktadir Rahman coming from Dhaka city to Rangpur on Saturday morning by a night coach, the Eid journey of the people of Northbengal this time is being relatively comfortable.

They also thanked the Bangladesh Army personnel, Highway Police, Ansar-VDP and everybody involved in maintaining a better Eid journey and traffic management for ensuring comparatively better and almost traffic-jam free journeys this year.
