KHULNA, March 30, 2025 (BSS) - The Khulna City Corporation (KCC) and Khulna Metropolitan Police (KMP) have stepped up security measures to ensure a smooth Eid jamaat for devotees.
Twelve mobile teams are working around the clock to provide security for the Eid jamaat in Khulna.
KCC administrator Md Firoz Sarker visited the main Eidgah at Circuit House and assured the public of a peaceful Eid celebration.
"Preparations are underway for a peaceful celebration of Eid and the main Eid-ul-Fitr Jamaat prayer," he said, adding that local officials would assist residents from all 31 KCC wards to attend the Eid jamaat.
KMP additional deputy commissioner Abu Raihan Muhammad Saleh highlighted new security measures, including a "Money Escort" service for the safe transport of cash during shopping and business activities.
"Anyone transporting large amounts of money can contact a nearby police station, the KMP control room, or emergency helpline 999 to avail of the 'Money Escort' service," he said.
Around 409 uniformed and plainclothes officers will monitor shopping malls and key locations, including 20 Eidgahs, before and after the Eid Jamaat. KMP will also patrol 65 Eidgahs and 382 mosque premises across the city. Special Forces will be deployed at major locations such as the main Eidgah at Circuit House, Town Jame Mosque, and other Eidgahs for Ahle Hadith and Kadiani communities.
Six check posts have been set up at city entry points, along with 30-35 CCTV cameras and archway gates to enhance surveillance.
"Security has been tight since the beginning of Ramadan to ensure the safety of residents during Eid," Saleh said.
The Rapid Action Battalion (RAB-6) has also increased patrols and surveillance in crowded areas, including highways, bus stations, and railway stations, to ensure safety during the Eid celebrations.
KMP deputy commissioner Mohammad Saiful Islam, additional deputy commissioner Bitan Kumar Mondal, and KCC chief engineer Moshiuzzaman Khan were also present at the briefing.
