RANGPUR, March 31, 2025 (BSS) - The district's main Eid congregation was held at the Collectorate Eidgah in Rangpur city at 8:30am today amid four-tier security arrangements and great enthusiasm and religious solemnity.
The main Eid-ul-Fitr prayer congregation, participated by about 20,000 devotees, was conducted by Khatib of the historical Keramotia Jam-e-Mosque in Rangpur city Hafiz Moulana Md. Bayezid Hussaine.
Divisional Commissioner Md. Shahidul Islam, Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Rabiul Faisal, former public representatives, officials, dignitaries, leaders of various political parties and thousands of Muslim devotees participated in the main congregation.
After the prayers and sermons, a special munajat was offered seeking the welfare, peace and prosperity of the country, nation and the Muslim Ummah of the world.
At this time, the devotees prayed to Allah Almighty with tearful eyes and religious emotion for the welfare of the Muslim Ummah, including Gaza in Palestine, and for the end of all kinds of oppression against Muslims around the world.
Before the prayers began, Divisional Commissioner Md Shahidul Islam and Rangpur Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Rabiul Faisal addressed the devotees and the people of Rangpur, wishing them a happy Eid.
In addition, Eid-ul-Fitr congregations were held at the Rangpur Police Lines Mosque ground at 8 am, Shapla Chattar Ashrafia Jame Mosque at 9 am, Munshipara Eidgah and Nasirabad Ekramia Jam-e-Mosque at 8:30 am, historical Keramotia Jam-e-Mosque adjacent to Hazrat Moulana Keramat Ali (RA) Shrine at 9 am, Mandalpara Boro Eidgah Maidan at 9:30 am in the city.
Eid-ul-Fitr congregations were held at Rangpur Medical College Central Jam-e-Mosque, Burirhat Central Eidgah, Central Bus Terminal Jam-e Mosque and other Eidgahs and mosques between 8:30 am and 9:30 am in Rangpur city,.
Outside the city, bigger Eid jamats were held at Mithapukur Central Eidgah, Badarganj Chandamari Keramotia Eidgah, Badarganj Central Eidgah, Pirgachha JN High School ground, Kawnia Central Eidgah, Taraganj Chowpathi Eidgah, Pirganj Central Eidgah and Paikan Baro Jumma Mosque ground in Gangachara upazila between 8:30 am and 10 am.
Meanwhile, the largest Eid-ul-Fitr prayer congregations in the district were held at the Damodarpur Boro Maidan ground and the Gangachara Taluk Habu Eidgah ground with participation of about 40,000 Muslim devotees at each congregation this time.
This year, Eid congregations were held in more than 1,200 Eidgah grounds and mosques-madrasas of the neighborhoods, including 75 in 33 wards of Rangpur metropolis, in the district.
The national flag was hoisted atop all government and private buildings and improved diets were served to inmates of the hospitals, orphanages, jail, vagrant centres and Shishu Paribars of the district to share the joy of Eid.
Marking the holy Eid-ul-Fitr festival, Rangpur City Corporation has decorated the main streets and road islands with the national flag and colorful flags and banners bearing inscriptions 'Eid Mubarak' giving charming looks to the city.
