Ensuring safe birth stressed for bright future of children

RANGPUR, April 7, 2025 (BSS) - Divisional Director (Health) Dr Md Harun-or-Rashid stated that safe birth significantly facilitates the management of post-natal complications, thereby ensuring a more secure and prosperous future for the child.

"For this, the government and NGOs are working together to ensure safe child birth," he told a discussion arranged marking the World Health Day -2025 today as the chief guest.
 
The day was observed with the theme "Healthy Beginnings, Hopeful Futures" this year.
 
The Civil Surgeon's Office, Health Services Division of Ministry of Health and Family Welfare and Health Education Bureau of Directorate General of Health Services jointly organized the event with assistance of Nutrition in City Ecosystems (NICE) project.
 
Earlier, a rally was brought out from the Divisional Director (Health) office marking the day. The rally ended on the Rangpur Old Sadar Hospital premises after parading different streets.
 
Civil Surgeon Dr. Shaheen Sultana presided over the event held at the conference room of Rangpur Old Sadar Hospital in the city.

Divisional Deputy Director (Health) Dr. Md. Wazed Ali and Assistant Divisional Deputy Director (Health) Dr. Md. Meshkatul Abed spoke as special guests.
 
World Health Organization's Rangpur Representative Dr. Mahbubur Rahman delivered a PowerPoint presentation narrating the importance of observance of the day.
 
The chief guest said that World Health Day is very important for the nation as the day gives a great opportunity to spread health messages among the people by increasing awareness about human health.
 
"There is no alternative to public awareness as prevention is always better than cure. However, there are still many people who are not interested in becoming aware about health, for them a special group of our NGOs is working," he said.
 
This group is creating public awareness by going to specific areas and health workers are also working at the field levels.
 
He called on all concerned to work together to improve the health system through joint initiatives.
 
Officials, doctors, nurses, students, representatives of health-related projects and NGOs were present at the event.
