RANGAMATI, April 12, 2025 (BSS) - The Rangamati district administration has undertaken elaborate programmes to celebrate Pahela Baishakh, the first day of the Bangla New Year, alongside the traditional festivals of Biju, Sangrai, Sangkran, Baisuk, Vishu and Bihu in an inclusive and festive manner this year.
As part of the celebrations, a vibrant procession will be brought out from the Rangamati Municipality premises at 8:00 am.
A folk fair will be inaugurated at the premises of the Deputy Commissioner's office, followed by a cultural program and prize distribution ceremony at the Freedom Fighter Shahid M Abdul Ali Mancha, adjacent to the District Administration Office.
Besides, the Bangla New Year will also be celebrated across all educational institutions in the district.
Traditional Bengali meals will be distributed at the local jail, hospital, children's home and among underprivileged children and their families.
To mark the occasion, the District Government Public Library hosted a quiz competition and an exhibition, while the Rangamati District Shishu Academy organized a writing and drawing competition on April 10.
Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Habib Ullah urged everyone to participate and enjoy the various programs arranged by the district administration.
