Two business establishments fined Tk 40,000 in Kurigram 

RANGPUR, April 29, 2025 (BSS)- A mobile court in separate drives fined two business establishments Taka 40,000 on different charges at different places under Sadar upazila of Kurigram district today.

"The Rangpur divisional office of Bangladesh Standards and Testing Institution (BSTI) and Kurigram District Administration jointly conducted the drives," a BSTI press release said here this afternoon.

The mobile court fined the two business organisations as per the BSTI Act-2018 and the Weights and Measures Act-2018. 

Executive Magistrate of Kurigram district administration Sheikh Mahbube Sobhani led the court.

The court fined Messer's Tasty Snacks and Bakery Taka 15,000 for selling and distributing cakes, sweets, yogurt and ghee products without BSTI Certification Marks (CM) license and not obtaining registration certificate for packaged products.

The court also fined Messer's Sufia Auto Flour Mills Taka 25,000 for not having CM license for flour and wheat bran products. 

Field Officer (Certification Marks) of BSTI Divisional Office, Rangpur, Khandaker Md. Jaminur Rahman and its Inspector (Metrology) Md. Almas Mia served as prosecutors while conducting the drives, the release added.
