FENI, April 30, 2025 (BSS)- Police arrested the main accused in a case lodged 
over the attack on Omar Faruk, district correspondent of "Daily Inqilab", 
from Lalpol area of the district town last night. 

The arrested was identified as Jamai Faruk, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Feni 
Model Police Station Md. Samsuzzaman confirmed. 

The police had been trying to arrest the accused for quite some time. Based 
on intelligence information, he was finally arrested, the OC said.

Earlier, journalist Omar Faruk was attacked on his way to Feni for 
professional work in front of Chaleh Ahmed's shop near Silonia Madrasah in 
the Gobindapur area of Kalidah union under Sadar upazila of the district on 
February 26 last.

Jamai Faruk and his cohorts attacked him for reporting on illegal sand 
extraction. Following the incident, Omar Faruk filed a case with the Feni 
Model Police Station, the OC added.
