Hindus bathe in Kuakata beach on Akshaya Tritiya

PATUAKHALI, April 30, 2025 (BSS)- Hindu devotees today thronged Kuakata beach to take bath on the occasion of Akshaya Tritiya, an annual religious festival of the community.

On the third day of Shukla Paksha of the month of Baishakh in the Hindu calendar, devotees took bath in the sea with a hope of god blessings.

International Hari Bhavana Mrita Sangha and Ashram organized Ganges Bathing Ceremony at 5 am after offering religious rituals including installation of Mangal Ghot, worshiping Sri Sri Vishnu and Ganga Maa.

This is a special day for the members of the Hindu and Jain communities. On this auspicious day, the sixth incarnation of Vishnu-Parashurama was born. Hence this day is also celebrated as Parashurama Jayanti.

A discussion was held at the Ashram premises marking the festival where priests and noted persons took part.

Every year, Hindu devotees from different parts of the country throng the beach to take the holy bath in the sea.

Kuakata beach was filled with the hustle and bustle of devotees since predawn hours. Many devotees were seen reciting from the Srimat Bhagabat Gita with their families after their ablution while some others performed religious rituals and offered prayers.

A devotee Kanika Roy said she came from Dhaka to take bath in the Ganges to achieve Akshaya Punya.

“If we bathe in the Ganges on this day, sorrows and diseases will be erased from our life and life might be filled with happiness and prosperity,” she believes.
