SATKHIRA, April 30, 2025 (BSS) - Mangoes from Satkhira, the first to reach
marketplaces in the country each year, will be available from May 5.
This information was revealed during a view-exchange meeting on safe mango
marketing held at the Satkhira Deputy Commissioner's (DC's) Office here
today.
With Satkhira DC Mohammad Mostak Ahmed in the chair, the meeting was
attended, among others, by Deputy Director of Department of Agricultural
Extension (DAE) Saiful Islam, ADC Bisnupod Pal, Assistant Superintendent of
Police (ASP) Sahinur Chowdhury, District Information Officer Jaharul Islam,
businessmen and mango farmers.
In the meeting, it was unanimously decided that some local varieties like
Gobindobhog, Gopalbhog, Bombai, Gopalshakha will be harvested and marketed
from May 5 while Himsagor Mango will be available from May 20 and Lengra from
May 27.
The DC said, "No mangoes can be picked or marketed before the specified
dates."
However, the officials of the DAE are expecting around 70 metric tonnes of
mangoes from Satkhira to be exported abroad this year.
